UPDATE: Bad Religion bumper sticker vs Jesus Fish by Pirateerin atheism

[–]DystopianFreak 1 point2 points ago

I have a signed copy of Anarchy Evolution, and I could have sworn Greg Graffin said the exact opposite of that in his book. (That the whole purpose of the name/symbol WAS to piss people off).

Edit: I have the book out now, and I'm looking for where he said it.

Edit 2: Page 15 of Anarchy Evolution by Greg Graffin: "We then faced a common problem for new bands -- what to call ourselves. Many people ask us about the name of our band, which we eventually chose after many brainstorming sessions. First of all, you have to remember that we were fifteen-year-old punks -- we wanted to piss people off. Anything that might make parents, teachers, and people with authority bristle was up for discussion. We also wanted a name that would suggest a great logo for stickers and T-shirts. Many of the names were compelling but too repulsive. Smegma, Vaginal Discharge, and Head Cheese might make for great logos but were quickly rejected as not representative of our songs. We played around with a lot of names involving the word "bad" -- Bad Family Planning, Bad Politics. When we hit on Bad Religion, it seemed perfect."

I had Steam way back when for my Half Life platinum pack back when it first came out, but I was relatively young and hadn't picked it back up until a few years ago, but that's irrelevant. I'm not talking about Steam back then. In any case, someone else in the thread mentioned some good reasons why Diablo 3 has this restricting DRM.

This is the first good reasoning I've seen for Blizzard requiring an internet connection.

[–]DystopianFreak 0 points1 point ago

But Valve doesn't have that problem. Up until recently, you could play your Steam games completely offline no matter what. Now you just need the initial internet connection to sign in and from there you're golden, even if you loose internet connection altogether.

If I had the game, I'd still be pissed. I'm not a PC gamer, but I know how PC games used to be. Single player should be available online or off, and multiplayer should (obviously) require an internet connection. Just like the guy at the beginning of this thread said. I never got into Diablo, so I'm not going to be buying this game, but even still it upsets me that internet connection should not be required for this mainly single player title.

I get where you're coming from, and yeah, my friend meant no disrespect by his comment. I would have called him out if he did.

I consider myself anti-theist as well, but I still won't discriminate if someone is a Christian but still a good person. My roommate of this past term at college was a Catholic, and I knew it. However, he was a very cool person and, even though I never heard him say anything on the topic, I don't think that he hated homosexuality. The most I heard from any of my roommates was "I wish that homosexual urges didn't exist", which wasn't a hating speech against homosexuals, and he made a point to say that, it was just he wished the urges didn't exist. All in all, I was accepting of all my roommates being Christian. The topic was just never brought up, besides for mentions of attending a church for ash wednesday, and we left it at that. I'm sure they know I'm atheist, as it says so right on my Facebook (I've never personally received persecution, thankfully), but we all got along. I still hate the idea of Christianity, or any religion whatsoever, but hating every Christian regardless of their personal views would be no better than what they do to homosexuals and atheists.

I have no problem with this, mainly because I don't have a twitter. I've always seen it as Facebook with all the bits that I actually use stripped down, and only status updates left. I understand that there are funny things said on there, but I don't find enough reason to ACTUALLY get one considering it seems rare that there is actually a gem among the long line of "Went out to coffee today" crap tweets.

Well, I'm actually thinking it would be cool to have something with all the transformation mask links, so it'd be nice to see a Goron, Zora, and just regular Link one.

I often make shirts out of stencils and I am definitely making one out of this later (MM being my personal favorite Zelda game). I am adding you as a friend in order to see more stencils in the future! Good job!

Yeah, but his still took quite a bit longer because, as I said before, he had to actually download the game even though he had the disk. Eventually he got tired of waiting and fired up The Witcher 2 while he waited.

As it turns out, he had previously mounted a camera in his car to take the picture at the exact moment he got home to save himself the trouble.
