Bonnaroo virgin here: How do you keep track of all the shows without a smartphone? by cosmotravelerin bonnaroo

[–]DoodlingJellyfish 0 points1 point ago

While I've never been to Bonnaroo, I go to plenty of festivals. I always write out my schedule on a sheet of notebook paper to keep in my wallet in addition to any print out schedule the festival gives me. Redundancy is a good thing.

12 days until I leave, when are you guys leaving and how long is your drive? I want to hear about the details of your road trip. by pewpnstuffin bonnaroo

I was unaware of this. I thought they didn't start letting people in until Thursday morning. I'm also not so sure how willing I would be to set up camp after a 16 hour drive.

I'm going to leave Wednesday morning from Austin. I'm going to try and find a cheap hotel to stay at within a 3 hour drive to Manchester. I will be listening to the Song of Ice and Fire audio books.

Reddit, what do you do when you are having the worst day? by tylerflyin AskReddit

[–]DoodlingJellyfish 0 points1 point ago

Depends on what kind of bad day. If I'm angry, I typically listen to something like Mastodon, Isis, or Pantera and play a fight heavy video game and take bong rips.

If I'm feeling depressed, I usually smoke a joint and listen to "Friend of the Devil" followed by things like Andrew WK, Titus Andronicus, or Japandroids.

I feel like a bit of a jerk for not tipping the person who changed the oil in my car. At the same time, don't you think it's BS that big chain companies pressure consumers to tip rather than pay people better wages? by preta6in AskReddit

[–]DoodlingJellyfish 0 points1 point ago

Why the hostility? I took a look through your comments, and it's almost nothing but anger sprinkled with homophobia and racism. I hope you plateau in middle management, and that you have son who grows up to be a gay waiter and a daughter with jungle fever.

The thing is, the restaurants use tipping to augment the pay of other employees too. It's not just waiters and bartenders who get paid less than minimum wage by the owners. The bussers, hosts, and various other positions are paid less than minimum wage, and the difference in pay is taken from tips received by servers. For example, where I work, 4% of my sales are taken straight off the top by the restaurant and used to pay bussers, hosts, to-go servers, and oyster shuckers. Whether you tip or not, I'm still paying the restaurant the same amount of money.

And beyond that, waiters are doing a lot more than than "taking two plates and 4 beers." We are also cleaning your glassware, stocking your beers in the coolers, changing kegs, prepping some of your food, keeping your table clean, stocking the kitchen, etc. Serving tables is a lot more than standing around waiting to drop off food. There ain't no such thing as a free lunch, or an easy job.

Thinking I was ready to get married at 19. At least I came to my senses before we actually got married.

V-Moda Faders - Ear plugs that don't muffle sound. by Iamthechemistin bonnaroo

[–]DoodlingJellyfish 0 points1 point ago

If you go to a lot of shows, a decent set of ear plugs will be the best $20 you'll ever spend.

GZA added to the lineup! (Link to inforoo thread in comments) by 10goldbeesin bonnaroo

GZA is so hit or miss. I would have a contingency plan based around the idea he may be too drunk to remember his own lyrics.

Odd question: Which player would you not mind having a terrible 2012 season? by craxy0in nfl

[–]DoodlingJellyfish 1 point2 points ago

I honestly don't think he's going to make it out of the season intact. If this isn't his last year playing football, I will be surprised.

Would you stand completely naked in front of a crowded stadium and sing "I've Been Working on the Railroad" for a million dollars? by thethomasguydin AskReddit

A million dollars? I'd do it for fun if I had a guarantee I wouldn't be arrested and have to sign up for the sex offender registry.

Lateralus - Tool by SweatyMoosein Music

[–]DoodlingJellyfish 4 points5 points ago

Why would you break Reflection, Disposition, Triad?

Lateralus - Tool by SweatyMoosein Music

[–]DoodlingJellyfish 0 points1 point ago

Honestly, Vicarious is one of my least favorite Tool songs. Right up there with Schism. And that sucks a little for me seeing as how they always play both of those songs when they're on tour.
