I just transferred from CC to a large 4-year university to study engineering. This is what you need to know: the only thing universities care about when you transfer is your GPA. When they take a look at all the applicants the people with the lowest GPAs are the people that get cut. A person with a 3.0 and a ton of extracurriculars will NOT get acceptance over a person with a 3.5 and no extracurriculars. Ever.

Also, college counselors are not like high school counselors; they will not hold your hand and make sure that you will take the right classes. There are hundreds of different universities and it would be impossible for them to be well-versed in the academic programs of every university. DO NOT TRUST WHAT YOUR COUNSELORS SAY. Definitely listen to their advice but take everything they say with a grain of salt. More than once they wanted me to sign up for a class that I knew wouldn't transfer to my intended university.

That means it is up to you to find out what classes you need to take for your degree program at university (many/all have transfer course requirements) so before you even start classes next fall you should have a good idea of what classes you will be taking for the next 2 years. Look up class schedules for majors at universities you are interested in and then sign up for equivalent courses at your community college. All universities have their schedules available online if you look hard enough.

This is what I did and I am now in my junior year at university with 100% of my credits transfered. Good luck :)
