Who would you have in mind?
They allowed a decent amount of questions from the crowd; there was at least an attempt at getting a balanced debate in theory, even if in practice there were too many shouting matches

The fact that it was a full debate was more interesting than the Pat Kenny title. Might have been better to advertise that.

The Diablo III hack explained? by Deluxoin Diablo

[–]DKoala 10 points11 points ago

This is disgusting and to make matters worse Blizzard is LYING to it's customers and not letting them know about this crazy horrible exploit!!!!!!!!

Local bank staff: “Attention public, just so you know there is a hole into our vault, somewhere in the building. We’re not going to tell you where it is, but just letting you know that it does exist, and that we’d really like if you didn’t try to exploit it. Some people already know about it and have gotten free money, but we’re just telling you this now so that you know not to do it yourself. Thank you!”

They were going for 300k-1.5mil the other night, Put mine up for min 20k, buyout at 75k. Got 25.5 for it and was delighted.

This was in act 3 normal, so it allowed me to get some good kit.

Anybody else loving WD spider jars? by TheNosferatuin Diablo

[–]DKoala 1 point2 points ago

After getting these for the first time with my witchdoctor while in a party of 4, I didn’t use them until our barbarian was AFK. I stood there for about 5mins throwing spiderjar after spiderjar at his feet from just offscreen. He cursed me out over mumble afterward, thinking he’d been surrounded by those freaky scurrying bastards

I don’t really get to play enough to suffer too much annoyance from the repeated downtimes, so I’ve never seen fit to complain about them, but this paragraph from today’s blog post made me chuckle:

During “normal hours,” the failure of Blizzard to recall that Diablo is a popular game was a boon: I have my own shit to write.
But later, when I began to prowl for leisure activities, and it occurred to me that I might utilize the sixty dollars of congealed entertainment I had recently purchased, I was not able to. And then I was, and then I wasn’t, and then no wait it’s still okay now it’s back. Requiring that players be online is one thing - but we are! We’re online right now! They’re the ones who aren’t online. Who watches the watchmen?!?!

I just found a legendary axe called "Skorn" ! by BaktusWDin Diablo

[–]DKoala 1 point2 points ago

Oh I don’t doubt that, I was just using it as an example.

I feel odd using 2handed weapons myself, I’m only on Act 2 of normal and have grown quite attached to my +16 Int book.

I just found a legendary axe called "Skorn" ! by BaktusWDin Diablo

[–]DKoala 1 point2 points ago

I made this mistake myself in beta.

Use any weapon based on the stats you want. The reason for Wands/Books/Orbs for the wizard is that they usually have inherent bonuses beneficial to wizards, so they often come in handy, but that doesn’t mean you should choose them over a superior sword and shield.

Your spell damage scales from the damage your weapon does, plus a modifier from your intelligence. If holding a two handed axe gives you a stronger DPS than a wand and orb, then you should go with that. Damn the aesthetics!

Did anyone else get a 'bin the fiscal union' flyer in the post? Is the Euro exit argued even possible/on the table? by ntxhhfin ireland

[–]DKoala 0 points1 point ago

There is some substance and a fair sprinkling of FUD in the flyer, which makes it comparable to the underhanded government "information" campaign. Both of these leaflets arrived in my postbox on the same day. EFD's one made it clear that it was a case against the treaty and who it was from. The other one pretended it was a neutral assessment, and didn't say who it was from.

Almost exactly the same thought I had on it actually. I’ve found myself subconsciously referencing the ‘balanced’ leaflets as ‘yes’ ones when speaking to friends.

I understand your position, but I don't agree. I have no desire to receive bunches of paper on this. I would far rather see detailed analysis online, and good debates on TV. Sloganeering pamphlets from either side are not particularly welcomed by me.

Oh don’t’ get me wrong, I wasn’t lamenting a lack of information for myself. My thoughts were that, when it comes down to it, these things get more exposure to the majority of voters than in-depth sources of information. Especially those who are simply not interested in seeking out hard facts on both sides (which I would imagine is a very large group of people).

Therefore when the only information they get are from passive sources such as word-of-mouth at the local pub, uninformative buzzword posters and these information leaflets thrust through their door, it irks me that the medium with the most potential for actual facts to be laid out can be hijacked like this.

As I mentioned in a post yesterday, point 1 of page 1 boils down to “after Nice we were told the eastern europeans wouldn’t come to take our jobs. They were wrong” (emphasis theirs)

No matter my choice of vote, I was disgusted that this was the first and only Vote No ‘information’ I got through my door.
