Just got my Grove (handmade) bamboo/leather iPad case in the mail! It was well worth the 8 week wait. by ComeAndGetThemin ipad

You will not be disappointed. I actually prefer browsing reddit with alien blue on my iPhone and iPad over a browser! Remember to set it to night mode though (makes it look much sharper). Enjoy!

Alien blue, my friend. It's the only way to go!

Anybody own a Grove case for their new iPad? (iPad 3rd generation) If so, any comments on it? Was thinking about getting one by Aquaflare8in ipad

No problem dude, I wanted to see pictures before I bought the case, so anything I can do to help out some fellow redditor(s) make their decision :).

As for the leather and the wool, I think for the price you would be more wise to go with the more expensive material: leather (since you would be paying the same for the wool anyways). But I have personally not seen the wool or the black leather so this is all just opinion. I personally like the tan leather because it has the really fine white stitching around the edges that stands out to the eye! But if I had to personally choose been the wool and the black leather I think I would go with the leather! Best of luck deciding between the two, either way I know you'll be happy with the final product! :D take care!

I believe only the iPad 2 had a removable flip cover. This leather cover is sewn to the bamboo backing; it is not removable. The leather flap is also magnetic and so far has been working flawlessly with waking and sleeping the screen. It has yet to obnoxiously turn the screen on and off while the flap is 'closed'. I also would like to add that the inner felt side of the leather flap is keeping my iPad screen completely fingerprintless, which is a bonus.

It's not the greatest for standing it horizontally on smooth surfaces like desks or tables. However, it does stand up nicely on surfaces with a little bit of texture and friction such as carpet and or cloth. I could post a picture if you'd like?

edit: I added a couple pictures to the album to demonstrate what the case looks like when placed horizontally.

I got lucky, for the first month of the iPad 3's release they had a sale. I got mine for $120 which is still quite pricey. Keep in mind, this is definitely not an otter box case (protection wise): This is real wood (I can smell and feel it), I don't imagine this case can take a hard beating. It's more designed to keep your iPad looking fresh, natural, and aesthetically appealing!

It's surprisingly more secure than I expected it to be. It has a felt-like foam (near the upper portion of the iPad) that you press the iPad into so it 'clicks' into the wood formed shell casing. After the iPad clicks into the casing it is held very snug. I doubt any excess movement would be able to pop the iPad out of the shell once it's clicked in!

I can try to answer questions on the case if anyone has any. I know I had a ton of questions right before I bought it, and wish I knew someone who had one before so I could get opinion(s). Fortunately I just went with my gut and bought it - as of this moment I am extremely satisfied with the purchase!

I purchased one way back when the new iPad came out. I'm sure you're aware of the 6-8 week period of time grove takes to craft and produce the case. Those two months do not even include shipping. My case is scheduled to leave grove by May 24th. The cases dress to impress from what I've seen, I can't wait for mine to come in. If you'd like, I could post pictures and make a thread once I receive my case? I'm positive most people won't be receiving new iPad cases until around the end of May with the 8 week crafting period. But back to the main premise: grove cases are not designed to be super tough or protective- they are greatly focused on aesthetics. If you are looking for a case that will protect your iPad from getting damaged from a fall, I would not recommend this kind of case. If you are careful with your iPad and you don't expect this case to be like an otterbox per-say, then I would recommend this piece of art (based on what I have seen so far).

TLDR: beautiful case, long shipping times, will post pictures when it comes in.

Comics for the iPad... by LionDownin ipad

[–]ComeAndGetThem 4 points5 points ago*

If you purchase your comics online, comixology has a fantastic retina ready app! But if you want to import your cbr files I hear comic zeal is fantastic. A free alternative with Dropbox integration is an app called "side books".

Two amazing comic series that I will always recommend is the walking dead and invincible. I might be an ass-kiss, but Robert Kirkmen sure writes some amazing comic poetry. I can confidently say that BOTH these comics give me goosebumps, leave me speechless, break my heart, and give me adrenaline rushes. Nothing touches these comic series in my books, so pick them up!

Grove handmade leather + bamboo cases. They are absolutely gorgeous! Checkout the website (http://www.grovemade.com/product/ipad-case/#plain-ipad-case). You can even customize an etch for the cover! It takes a long time to ship because the great people that handmade these take the time to perfect every case. A friend of mine had one for the iPad 2 and I loved it so I had to get one for my new iPad- it's on it's way! (I'll post pictures of it when I get it but it's stills weeks away). Good luck choosing a case!

this makes it ten times harder to be a fan by derpingUSAin thewalkingdead

Let this thought percolate in your minds for a minute: what if HBO picked up the walking dead? Can you imagine this show with essentially an unlimited budget? I can only dream what this show could have been like if it was on HBO - more gore, more vulgar, more effects, more sex, more everything. Seriously, similar to how game of thrones so closely followed the novel counterpart, the show could have actually followed the gruesomness of the comic versus being a dumbed down cable friendly show. I dream about the show being more closely related to the comics and I couldn't see any network doing it better than HBO. Sigh. In a better world I guess.

All she needs is an entrance similar to her entrance in the comics and viewers will be left drooling for more. A quick 30 second peak of her with her blade and her two temporary "pets" will surely be enough of a season finale cliffhanger for any viewer.
