Losing an argument on the internet? Can't counter the other guy's fact based evidence with anything but citationless Youtube videos? Just call him a paid shill! It's not like he can disprove it.

Prove it. Find a reputable, peer reviewed study that shows a link between either compound and migraines.

And the Jews from the Bilderberg Group put fluoride in the water to make people dumber so they won't realize they're actually reptilians who are using their satanic powers to bring about the apocalypse in 2012

I always get the feeling that half of Reddit will believe any story, no matter how ridiculous it is, because, of course, everyone has to pass a test on ethics before they join the site. The other half will automatically declare any story bullshit so people will think they're intelligent and worldly.

It's an ultimately meaningless dispute between zealots and firebrands, militants and fanatics. Truly a thing of beauty.

That's kind of how the comments sections of those posts end up.

And I'm not entirely defending it, only saying it's not an utterly indefensible rule. I think outright banning it is a little excessive, but I understand why the mods would want to keep it out of the sub

A tenfold increase of 0 is still 0. You mean to say The good lord scientist Sagan blessed rationally bettered your life by adding IQ points to you.

Math is based on axioms, which must be accepted without proof, making them little better than skytheist faith.

One could defend the blatantly sexual content of the show as an artistic choice (I've actually read some very convincing arguments for this view). It's very hard to defend the 8th repost of this (NSFW) as anything but exploitative and gratuitous

Not necessarily saying I agree, but it's not an entirely absurd position either

I remember seeing it mentioned in a documentary about Hitler's family on the History Channel back when they were the Hitler and UFOs Channel, instead of the Watch People Do Their Jobs Channel. A bit busy ATM but I'll try to find an actual source later

EDIT: Apparently they lied

No seriously. That's exactly what the post is implying. Hitler didn't do it, but the Bible says God did.

Disagreement in /r/pics over if "white knights" genuinely care or just want to impress girls. by sumtaediumin SubredditDrama

[–]ClamydiaDellArte 4 points5 points ago

The problem is that what can legitimately be interpreted as white knighting and what can legitimately be interpreted as supporting a feminist point of view is nuanced, and the internet is absolutely terrible when it comes to nuance. When most of the negative responses to a very bad suggestive comment are "HOW DARE YOU SUGGEST THAT THERE IS ANYTHING SEXUAL ABOUT POSTING HALF NAKED PICTURES OF YOURSELF ON THE INTERNET! I AM OFFENDED THAT YOU WOULD MAKE SUCH CRUDE REMARKS TO OP, WHO IS OBVIOUSLY PERFECT AND INNOCENT IN EVERY WAY!," it's not hard to mistakenly lump the one guy who's saying, "Hey could you stop that? You're not really contributing anything and, quite frankly, you're being kind of creepy" in with the former group.

Asha succeeds in making me feel sorry for Theon by njr123in gameofthrones

[–]ClamydiaDellArte 4 points5 points ago

The actress plays the part perfectly

She's not NEARLY confident or lively enough for me to agree with you there. She nails the snark and sarcasm, but none of brash cockiness that makes her who she is. And although I shouldn't complain too much about appearance, and I know they never flat out say she's supposed to be attractive, it's heavily implied that she is. I really don't buy that half the Iron Islands wants to bang her. Which is especially weird given that Gemma Whelan is pretty hot IRL
