Very nice!

But fuck Getty Images. More than once had them serving notices and threats to my clients for images I rightfully bought at other places.

Why do Americans complain so much? by PokemasterTTin AskReddit

[–]ChickenFarmer 3 points4 points ago

By that logic, nobody ever would be allowed to complain, because there is always someone somewhere worse off than you.

By the way, I don't live in the States and my fellow countrymen complain all the time too. Actually, I found Americans to be quite optimistic people overall.

Are you creative? by jason1287in AskReddit

Yes. It's important to have a good internal filter though. I only share about maybe 10% of my ideas.

Men of Reddit, where is the line between "curvy" and fat? by whatisthelimitin AskReddit

[–]ChickenFarmer 0 points1 point ago

I'm too lazy to look for pictures now, but for me the line is where the person looks like he/she's incapable of doing any kind of activity or sports. You can be chubby and still look healthy. Coincidentially, people who are slim but lack any kind of definition, never lift anything more than a pencil and get out of breath climbing just a couple of stories on the stairs are also unattractive to me.

It's highly subjective, of course. I guess it has something to do with "fitness for procreation" though.

As a Brit, I've didn't grow up with Calvin and Hobbes. What am I missing? by zagreus9in AskReddit

[–]ChickenFarmer 2 points3 points ago

I don't think it has to do with your nationality. I am Austrian and I love Calvin and Hobbes. If you had an exuverant imagination as a kid, you can totally see yourself in Calvin. My stuffed animals also were all characters with names, history, personalities etc. I guess that's the crux.

How to publish a book? by Rostersin AskReddit

[–]ChickenFarmer 0 points1 point ago

Absolutely! Getting a deal with a publisher or even just an agent is highly improbable. But the opportunities for self publishing have never been better!

Many print-on-demand publishers require a setup fee though to add you to their catalogue. You will have to shop around.

I do not know who I am by tjenatorin self

[–]ChickenFarmer 0 points1 point ago

Good advice! Another trick to help re-inventing yourself is to move. Moving to another place or even country and meeting new people will make it much easier to just be the person you would like to be.

We are in many ways defined by our relationships with our friends and family, so there will be a lot of inertia to battle with if you become someone else. If you move, you can kinda start from scratch.

Epic rant about the internet and Everything by tornfromabookin self

[–]ChickenFarmer 3 points4 points ago

You might want to consider signing up with project mayhem.

But seriously, that was an epic rant. You hit many nails on the head, although I do not share your ultimate pessimism about the looming catastrophe. I see a lot of people sensing the same problems you do and starting to go "against the grain" or "off the grid". The problem is that this movement, although maybe big (I don't know how big though) is not organized and not visible. You can't tell by looking at someone that they try to not buy crap they don't need, plant their gardens, put effort in their relationships, think about political issues etc. etc.

Don't lose hope. You're not alone.

Yes. But that is not how the choice of the ringbearer is portrayed in the book or the movie though.

Exactly. Are they rich or something? You probably need a maid, chauffeur and a cook to maintain this long-nail-lifestyle.

Works fine for me too.

I might die, and I have no kids or close family. What do people do with their belongings if they have nobody to pass them on to? by herp_derp_hagin AskReddit

[–]ChickenFarmer 2 points3 points ago

Well, I don't live in the States, so I am not that well versed in your legal system. But where I live a handwritten will is still more than nothing at all. If there is no other document around, it is valid.

But I agree that the solution you suggested is probably the best!

Ok... Big life changes happening right now, I need to make a big decision, looking for advice!!! by brandonkiel27in self

Amateur musician here who also used to work part time for a record company and label for a little while. Business or law are not bad options. I would rather tend towards law even. A lot of musicians have no clue about the legal and business side of music and this would not only benefit your own carreer as a musician, but there's a real niche and need for people who don't just talk smart about music business.

Just had a bloody nose while taking a shit. What are some horrible situations you guys/gals have been in? by Hawk082in AskReddit

[–]ChickenFarmer 0 points1 point ago

Consider yourself fortunate that it was just a nose bleed! Because of the increased blood pressure when you're pressing, aneurisms and strokes while on the John are not a rare occurance. Also, many people (usually elderly) pass out while pooping and then hit their head or something. Source: My sister in law is a firefighter / EMT.
