TROPHY CASE

A dozen NFL players say they're ready to welcome gay teammates by ryhudsonin nfl

[–]CheesyGoodness 0 points1 point ago

You asked, so I'll tell you, prepare to be bored.

Back in the day, I was a commissioned sales guy for an electronics chain. I would get a cut of every item I sold, but there wasn't that much money in selling the actual product, the REAL money was selling an extended warranty with it. For instance, I could sell a $1200 laptop (back in the late 90s) and make maybe $20-25...but if I could sell them a 4 year warranty for $399, I made an extra $80.

Selling a warranty was referred to as "getting the cheese", as in the drive-thru people asking you, "Do you want cheese on that?" (this was before the urban phrase cheese/cheddar).

I'd finish ringing someone up, and after they left, the first question the other floor guys/girls would ask was, "Did you get cheese on that?", I'd give them a shit-eating grin and say, "Cheesy goodness, baby", and watch the jealousy in their eyes.

Yep, there is much more of a gay stigma in the black community here in Alabama, I'm guessing due to the Baptist church.

I've lived all over the country, and have lived in the Deep South (Alabama) for over 10 years now. I was actually surprised how tolerant the community is here towards gays. We're not gonna have a pride parade anytime soon, but it's not really an issue, my gay friends don't feel threatened at all. Most good old boys here just shake their heads and say, "well, whatever, as long as they don't do it in front of me, it's cool."

Patrice O'Neal: The Comedian Comedians Were Afraid Of by drawmeasheepin StandUpComedy

[–]CheesyGoodness 1 point2 points ago

Patrice is the only person to this day who played the race card all the time and didn't piss me off, just because he could make it funny. I wasn't a big fan of his standup, he was much better when he had others to play off of. His guest appearances on O&A were legendary, arguing with Jim Norton, Bill Burr, Louis CK...goddamn he was hilarious.

Security issue on my XP laptop by Eurofootyin techsupport

[–]CheesyGoodness 0 points1 point ago

To be honest, any AV product, paid or free, will only offer partial protection, there's no "silver bullet" out there, despite claims to the contrary. Just about everything I'm cleaning up now will blow past any AV on the market, which means that MSE, Avast!, whatever are about the same, they'll protect you, but not much.

IMHO, the most important thing you can do (besides being careful) is to make sure Flash and Java are updated, because everything I'm seeing now is coming through Flash/Java exploits, and will beat up any AV and take its lunch money.

Security issue on my XP laptop by Eurofootyin techsupport

[–]CheesyGoodness 1 point2 points ago

I'm willing to bet that the problem is MSE itself, especially if you've just installed a round of Windows updates. MSE just doesn't play well with certain XP layouts, and the problem you're describing is exactly what happens to some after a new engine is installed through WU.

I would definitely do what reo_sam recommended, just to be sure, but if that comes up empty, I would uninstall MSE and go with something else, I've had good luck with Avast! free on older units like yours.

It sucks that MS won't allow them to give away the game on XBL, that's the platform I play it on. I bought the initial Android releases and the flipper lag made it virtually unplayable. Plays great on the 360, though.

even an opened game is able to be returned within a few days

I don't know where you live, but most retail stores in the US will only exchange an opened game for a replacement of the same game, to avoid copying.

Congrats on getting a refund, though.

I honesty think most of our secondary's troubles last year were due to two things: lack of a pass rush and Manusky playing prevent in close games because he was scared of giving up the big play.

Jammer's fading, but I think he still has a year or two left, Cason is a decent corner if he isn't stuck on an island for 10 seconds, and Gilchrist has some serious potential. I'm OK with our corners, we just need to quit rushing 3 guys.

Ctrl-F'd "Jack", wasn't disappointed.

One of my favorite drinks ever. When I offer it to friends, they make a face, until they try it, then they want another. Canada Dry will do in a pinch, but Vernors is way better.

"Goddamnit Norv! A run up the middle on 3rd and 10? REALLY?"

"We desperately need a stop, let's play our corners 5 yards off on 3rd and 3, that should work."

"Jesus Christ, who else can get hurt?"

"At least our cheerleaders are hot."

Drove around my city looking for pins. Found NONE. Went home kinda sad and fired up the Williams Challenge. I feel a little better now. by CheesyGoodnessin pinball

[–]CheesyGoodness[S] 0 points1 point ago

I actually like Pinbot because there's a lot to do, especially for an older table, but it can be merciless...I've actually played a couple games where I didn't get to touch the ball with the flippers once.

My favorite is Arabian Nights, with Funhouse/Whirlwind/MM right behind. My 2 least favorites are Black Knight and Space Shuttle, because they're just a repetitive grind. frunch has an interesting comment upthread about setting the difficulty for BK on a real table, it would be a lot more challenging that way.

You couldn't be more wrong.

Nobody's making him into a hero because he committed suicide, he was one of the best linebackers in NFL history, and did a ton of community and charity work. He was a hero already, and it's sad that his personal demons, whatever they were, took over.

I've always been one of those people whose motto is, "if all else fails, read the directions." After getting my ass kicked repeatedly by MM, I gave up and watched the directions, and things made a lot more sense.

The toughest game, IMO, is Pinbot, just because of the nasty side drains, I've been killed more times on the Challenge by Pinbot than all the other ones combined...it's the one game that if you beat the challenge score, even if it's low, you don't even think about retrying for a better one, you just take your 8 or 9 and move on.
