I've said it repeatedly: Malkin is 100x the Hockey Player that Crosby is.

Alright Reddit! What are some of the biggest movie plot holes that you know of? by DrToonzin AskReddit

[–]BrainTroubles 0 points1 point ago

Moreover, how did everyone near the microwave emitter not instantly vaporize when he activated it. I noticed that the first time I saw the movie too and was like "well...that's dumb. It cause a ship to implode because it vaporized the freaking OCEAN around it, but the human being made of 80% water standing right fucking next to it is totally fine, as are all the other humans it passes by on its way to the tower." Nolan movies, in general always have a major plot hole though. I honestly believe he puts them there on purpose to force you to step away from reality and into the magic of the movie. Seriously, he's far too good of a director and visionary to not realize that his movies have major holes in them.

Fun fact: All of Nolan's movies have pretty big plot holes. I personally think he puts them there on purpose to force you to accept that "magical" aspect of it.

What's one instance of sexual exploration that you instantly regretted? by InstantPeeRegretin AskReddit

[–]BrainTroubles 1 point2 points ago

The first time me and girlfriend decided to shower together was probably the worst sexual experience of my life. I'm 6'1 and she was about 5'4, so the physics of getting my dick in was tricky (shower was quite small). After several tries I finally got it to go in and I'm like "oh well this is pretty cool I guess," so I get maybe three pumps in before I lose traction on the very wet shower floor, dislocate my knee, and have by 5'5 girlfriend fall, elbows first, right onto my face. Not a good day.

As much as it pisses us fans off, it happens to every team at some point. The question is will the rangers bounce back? I think they will. I'd be surprised if this series didn't go to seven.

Well that's what I thought was odd. The Rangers, particularly in the first two rounds, were great about breaking up passes and taking away lanes. But game 2 (last night) in particular, both teams just didn't seem the have the presence of mind to have their sticks down on the ice, especially on the offensive side. I mean a ton of scoring chances come off shots that you take deliberately to create a rebound chance, and on several of those the Devils in particular seemed to have their sticks way off the ice. The Rangers weren't as bad, but were still guilty of getting caught with their sticks up several times. I don't know, it could just be that I was at a bar and not paying close enough attention, but it seemed both teams were guilty of it.

Oh that did go to seven didn't it. I have no idea why I was thinking it ended in 6. Mental lapse. Still, Devils got about a week of rest in before this series, and to me it shows.

Definitely too much IMO. I could maybe see giving him a major, but even that is a stretch.

People collapse to the puck.

To be fair, this has been NY's strategy all season, and in game 1 the Devils had a very "shoot first" mentality. It was a bit of a defensive lapse, but based on what they did the game prior to this one, I can see why they would have thought the pass to Kovy was less of a threat than the shot.

What actually blows my mind a little (for both the Devils and the Rangers) is how often these players are getting caught with their sticks off the ice. I mean, Devils AND Rangers missed tons of rebound opportunities and didn't break up tons of passes simply because they didn't have their sticks on the ice. I don't remember if it was the Kovy goal or one of the other ones, but I commented on that to my friends early in the game that nobody was using their sticks well to block passes or go after rebounds.

The Rangers are going to have a hard enough time.....rolling 4 defencemen.

This is also a very good point, one I completely agree with. To make matters worse, they've played two seven game series with what, 2 days off in between any given series? Jersey on the other hand has played two punctuated series, and appears to have used the time off well, as each time they've hit the ice looking ready to go, despite what the scoreboard would have you believe. This is also exacerbated to a degree by the fact that (hope I don't piss off any fans here) the Rangers are one of the slower teams in the NHL, and they're really getting burned out by the cycle and chase game Jersey is making them play. Torts will have to play more than 4 defensemen if he wants to win IMO, but I agree, major changes need to be made or their strategy is going to get exploited and taken advantage of by the Devils.

Exactly, that's what I see. His shoulder is dropped and squared to hit Mikus in the chest, but mikus dekes to his right just before the hit. There's no way (or at least a very slim chance) Getz could have avoided contact here. Still though, had Getz had his legs placed correctly for a proper check, there's a good chance this hit wouldn't have turned out this way. I'd say Onus is about 50/50 honestly. Getz deserved a penalty if he got one, but I don't know that I'd say he earned much else.

Understandable, but the niceness of the stadium isn't what draws the fans (for an example, attend a Blue Jackets game).

If I throw a ball at you and it misses you by six feet, then bounces off a wall behind you, lands on a desk, and pops up and hits you in the back of the head, it's blind luck that it hit you at all. Blind luck implying a blind person had just as much chance of that happening as the able bodied (prefessional in this case) who threw/shot it and missed.

That's the thing though, Tortorella is a smart coach. He knows that the Devils adapt to their opponent (MAJORLY pumping up the cycle game against Philadelphia for example), and they are clearly working the possession game to open up lanes for deflections instead of direct shots. I swear, they must have had 10 quality chances come off of deflections. The only way to negate that really is to make your defense be more active and attack the offense more (similar to the system the Kings have been rocking all post season). I really am interested to see the response from NY.

I watch it because it's on, and I hope the Rangers get beat. That being said, I'm hugely into the battle in the west this year, and I'm hoping to see LA or Phoenix (not looking good for them) go all the way and bring stanley to a much deprived west coast.

While Seattle is no doubt a pretty good hockey market and has potential to create some very interesting rivalries (and balance a rather weak division), what's the point of the NBA side? Didn't their last NBA franchise die out only to become hugely popular when moved to OKC? Why do they think a new franchise will do better? Just curious, I don't follow basketball all that much, so I don't know the circumstances behind the move. Not trying to say it's a shit idea or anything.

True, but look how many attempted deflections they had. Parise missed by an inch like three times last night, and you could visibly see (especially in the second and third periods) Jersey pretty much gave up on their cycle/cycle/one-timer/look for rebound strategy that worked so well the first two rounds, and instead cycled it more to the circles/boards where the wingers would wait, sometimes to the point where a shooting opportunity disappeared completely, for someone to get in position for a deflection and to have a clear lane to them. You'll notice they also cut how many shots they had blocked nearly in half. It was a very effective strategy, and Lundqvist had to make some of the best saves of the playoffs last night because of it. I'm interested to see how NY responds. I doubt their defensive zone play will be as passive next game (i.e. wait for a shot block and clear), especially since they know Jersey is avoiding firing shots if they're going to get blocked.
