When they let the battery run down by 60% before even starting their "test," it isn't scientific, it isn't factual, and it isn't honest. If you don't agree with that, then I don't even know what to say. They've absolutely lied about this.

Obviously they have a limit of how far they can go, so does the old internal combustion engine. Nobody is disputing that an electric vehicle can run out of juice. What Top Gear actually does, most recently with the Nissan Leaf, is pretty disgusting though:

while the company delivered the car to Top Gear fully charged, the programme-makers ran the battery down before Clarkson and May set off, until only 40% of the charge was left. Moreover, they must have known this, as the electronic display tells the driver how many miles' worth of electricity they have, and the sat-nav tells them if they don't have enough charge to reach their destination. In this case it told them – before they set out on their 60-mile journey – that they had 30 miles' worth of electricity. But, as Ben Webster of the Times reported earlier this week, "at no point were viewers told that the battery had been more than half empty at the start of the trip."

Top Gear may be entertaining TV, but they absolutely lie about this.

I played EQ for many years, way way too much of it. EQ was a dickhead, and absolutely revelled in beating the shit out of its players and making corpse retrieval a nightmare. It was super fun though. I just couldn't put up with it now. We are both saying the same things really. :)

The olden days of punishing gamers for playing a game they're paying for (see: Everquest) are long gone and not missed. One reason for WoW's success is that they've made the game that accessible for even casual players. EQ and vanilla WoW expect massive timesinks from players, and even getting a group together could take up a ridiculous amount of time. I haven't played an MMO in a few years now, and probably won't ever do it again due to real life time constraints, but I don't see what benefit there is to having a game require the players to farm Badger Hearts or whatever for hours on end just to have potions to raid content in the vain hope that their Dagger of Plus 800 DPS will drop. I realize they can't just hand gear out for no work, but the olden days were fookin' terrible frankly.
