TROPHY CASE

  • One-Year Club

Students in Quebec were asked to send the cops the route of their march. Here's what they replied with. by PunPuncherin funny

[–]BellendSebastian 2 points3 points ago

Where I am I got to witness a group of occupy protestors, probably around 10 of them, having a silent sit-down protest in the middle of the street.

The street in question was closed off, as it is every saturday, and the entire area, everything for a few blocks either side, is all independently owned, small local companies.

Either these people were as dumb as they looked, or they were just lazy and didn't want to stray too far from the two small vegan cafes across the road.

If that's the case, and you have a somethingawful account, go check out the UK Bass thread over there. 28 Gun Bad Boy has written a history of the music from bleep n bass, hardcore, jungle, garage through to about where we are now. Lots of good tunes and history there.

Infact, with a little googling, someone's mirrored it off SA. Go here and read the posts, you'll have to scroll down to the bottom and start at part 1, but it's a good history.

Very, very true. I produce bass music myself (bassline, jungle, grime, whatever I fancy really) and even the differences between my proper headset, earbuds, 2.1 system, monitors and a pa are so hugely fucking different and you get a different experience from them. Though that could just be my shitty mastering.

I once had to break out a spectrometer when someone was arguing that a Mala track was boring and had no sub bass and draw big fucking arrows pointing around the 40Hz mark. Kids and their laptop speakers, get off my genre!

Which is such a shame. Take Mala, Loefah, Burial, Distance, Coki, Skream, Goth Trad, most on DMZ, Tempa, DEEP MEDi, and you have a huge amount of awesome music that is completely ignored or derided because of people assume Borgore is representative of all dubstep.

Bass music is so much more.

Diablo 3 and Torchlight 2. They are a testament to our changing industry. by Cheeseterin Games

The plus would be it's cheaper and you can install of a disc rather than downloading the client. But with stores sold out, you may as well grab it from Blizzard as it works out cheaper.

Nah, but he was basically using that whole reasoning of 'First they came for... and I did not speak out' to a video game.

And I agree, the price is really high at the moment as everywhere seems to be sold out, so anywhere that still has it has put the price up going on £50-60 here, which is ludicrous money for a game. TL2 is a perfectly good alternative to D3 if you're after a new aRPG. Whilst I'm really enjoying D3, it isn't without it's faults, but you really just have to sit back and laugh at how much some people are getting angry about it.

As you seem blissfully unaware of how ridiculous your post was (try going back and re-reading it in a few hours when you're not so riled up), here's a few things wrong with your post, and when I say few things, I'm just being nice when I actually mean every word you typed was terrible.

LAN is no longer how most multiplayer games are played, it is something that we will see getting dropped more and more from games going into the future. As internet connectivity spreads out, gets faster and gets cheaper, this is a trend that will continue, whether you like it or not. You are, as much as you hate to admit it, a vocal minority. I do not know a single person who has even been to a LAN party or event in the last decade, though I do know many people who go to each other's houses to play computer games online.

As for Blizzard's 'shit decisions,' this is purely your opinion. Myself, and most other Diablo 3 players, are not 'inconvenienced' by the "always-on, intrusive DRM." It is, once again, a vocal minority. If it were a problem that affected a much greater amount of people, you can bet your ass you would be seeing more of a backlash than people posting low-star metacritic or amazon reviews and posting on forums.

As for not speaking out when they came for the jews, sorry, I mean buying the game since the decisions don't affect me, welp, you're wrong, and this is a perfect example of what kind of hyperbole you're regurgitating. I've lost hours or progress, loot, my achievements are all fucked up and I've had fairly frequent connection drops, all on top of the fact that I work 2 jobs and don't really have time to play games. On the other hand, I'm a fairly reasonable and patient man. I realise that this is all teething problems, god knows I've witnessed every Blizzard launch online and they're always pretty shaky. Don't presume that you speak for everyone just because you disagree with something. I support the online integration fully, despite being caught on the shitty end of that stick.

This is not fucking up the games industry, this is progress, and whilst you may not like it, it's still progress and the wheels will keep turning without you.

And you're entire second paragraph is based on a total lack of any evidence. You pull figures out of your arse and as such none of what you say has any merit whatsoever.

Seriously, calm down a bit, have a cup of tea or something, get your perspective, and read through your post again. It's pretty terrible.

I apologise. I thought you might have just been hot under the collar and going off on a little rant, to which you would come back later and realise all those words you typed, but it would appear that you are actually mentally deficient and for that I am sorry that I poked fun at you.

It's not exactly Blizzard's MO to drop support on games. Consider that, if I remember right, the Diablo 1 servers are still up and going, and that was released in 1996.

The online part is handled through Battle.net, the same thing behind World of Warcraft and Starcraft 2, you are pretty much as far off the mark as you could possibly be if you really believe those servers are coming down anytime soon.

So? Why the hell should they invest time and money developing something for a very small, albeit ridiculously vocal, minority of players? You are the exact kind of idiot that is fucking up the game industry. You don't care about anybody except yourself, so regardless of shit decisions the company makes, you'll buy their game since those particular decisions don't affect you and you're a selfish asshole.

It doesn't matter if a minority of the players are having problems. They sold (or at least will sell) millions of copies of the game, let's pull numbers out of my asshole and say 3 million because I am too lazy to let facts get in the way of my ranting and I need a number, however fabricated, to continue my hilarious diatribe. Say out of that 3 million a wildly inaccurate fabrication percentage of people (let's say 99%) of the players are affected by Blizzard's business and financially sound decisions and can play the game. That's 70 billion people. Seventy billion. If this is the kind of post you make, then you're an idiot.

Kinda runs like crap, though that could just be my laptop at the moment, but still good stuff. Like others, I've been prying through your lab folder and I am definitely going to use tweakySynth in a music track at some point.

edit: Just going to listen to this forever now.

You're getting mugged off if you're spending 60 GBFP for the game, and personally I wouldn't be having as much fun with D3 if it wasn't for the fully integrated online aspects. Being able to hop into my friend's games and the like is really fucking awesome.

If you're using something that negates the entire authentication process (I'd assume removing or rerouting any of the calls home it does), how would you get banned, considering you wouldn't be contacting blizzard's servers?
