Clearing up misconceptions about Force Armor, and 0-vitality-high-regen Wizards (AKA "55Wizards"). by PKCarwashin Diablo

[–]Austaph 20 points21 points ago

I can't agree with you more. It seems like everyone complaining about wizards has a WoW mentality like they're all going to get benched on their guild raid runs in favor of wizards or something. It's immature.

It takes 3 days to level a 60. People that actually enjoy Diablo franchise are going to have max of each class in no time. There are probably already people who do. "55wiz" plays just like a hybrid trapsin es sorc, more like a trapsin though with hydra.

Who freaking cares if they're OP, Diablo is supposed to be full of OP unbalanced bullshit. All the people I've ever encountered that were Diablo fans fell into two categories: people playing OP builds and having fun, and people playing underdog builds and having fun. None of this whiny crybaby bullshit.

Everyone crying a river over wizards, but nobody minds enough not to buy all the loot that we're putting on the AH. All those shiny 1000 dps weapons and 200+ stat items, who the hell do people think is farming them.

Archon in inferno doesn't work for me :( I was referring to hell. I've done a hundred Azmodan runs just get in his face, pop Archon, kill him. His health drops so fast that he doesn't even have time to cast a meteor, and he's dead before the ooze gets troublesome but that does require some vitality.

Fuck those things. Nothing in Inferno pissed me off until I ran into those.

Someone tell me another build out there Wizards can use which won't result in me getting insta-raped by that ball, the lava, the corpses, or minions.

Disintegrate (Entropy)

Frost Nova (Cold Snap)

Storm Armor (Scramble)

Teleport (Wormhole)

Diamond Skin (Whatever you want)

Archon (Pure Power)

Passives:

Evocation, Glass Cannon, Critical Mass

This is the best build I could come up with. It's insanely fast. Asmodan pops up you just go all Archon and melt his face like nothing. Don't potion, don't Diamond Skin, just get in his face and kill him in 15 seconds.

Next boss (don't remember his name) with a few procs from Critical Mass you should get Archon back up and then just nuke him. Entropy rune on Disintegrate is really good, I'm surprised you weren't using it.

Seriously, though. Try this build. Speed boost from Storm Armor is great for speed running.

Edit: Wish I had a way to screen cast. 2 min 30 sec run!

Ok all it seems like people are giving Diablo 3 scores of 0 - 2 becouse of the servers being unstable, Does anyone else feel that this is a rediculous reason to give such a great title such a low score? Whatever, it's one of those games for mentally challenged people to use as a machinima fan fiction medium with their endless supply of free time. I can dig up the sad truth if you want me to.

As a software programmer the only hardware aspect you need to worry about is memory management. There are software, hardware, and system's engineers, and the people responsible for making an awesome game have almost zero contact with the people responsible for handling the servers. They don't even work in the same state sate as eachother, get a grip.

How near-sighted are you? Apart from the fact that the game developers have absolutely nothing to do with the server tech, a week from now you won't even remember this pathetic little delay. You want some single player jerkoff game go play Skyrim or Minecraft. Single player dungoen crawler is the saddest most pointless forever-alone garbage genre of gaming. Or just put the keg of Mountain Dew away until servers are up and the game is stable.

More People With PhDs Going on Food Stamps - Number of advanced degree holders on public assistance doubles by 47toolatein news

[–]Austaph 1 point2 points ago

The fact of the matter is that you get what you put in. Money doesn't just appear out of nowhere so everyone can pursue whatever they think is interesting.

I've put enough time into World of Warcraft to where I could have earned two PhD's... that doesn't mean I'm entitled to a goddamn thing because of it. I mean... Doctor of Medieval History. I didn't even know such a thing existed. I'm sure it's hard work, but it's monetarily useless unless you happen to coordinate a Ren Faire or work at a museum or something along those lines.

It really blows my mind how people just drift through the academic system without putting any thought into how marketable their career path that their degree leads into is. Even aside from that fact, and I've looked into graduate schools leading into a position at a 4-year university as a professor -- all the universities care about is how often you can publish research, and how profitable the research is that you're doing. If you're not making money for the university, you're not going to get money in return, that's the bottom line. Get published -> make money for the university. or Don't produce anything of value -> become an adjunct.

Having a PhD, in and of itself, does not mean anything. All that the title means is that you posses an entry-level qualification for a position in higher research or education. It doesn't excuse you from being shitty and useless, unfortunately.

I dunno, I don't really need to remember. I don't deal with electronics that much.

When did you start to feel like you were a programmer and why? by MrEmeraldin learnprogramming

I started to feel like a programmer when I wrote my first subs and functions in VB3.

Because the path of least resistance isn't through them. The electricity just wants to ground itself.

I'm not sure what you mean but if you're implying that physics and electronics are unrelated then you're mistaken.

I'm not a physics major, but I have taken some basic electronics courses. What you're basically asking is if the human body is capable of acting as a high voltage battery. When he touches the wire he becomes a conduit for the power line and a ground. Any excess charge that he would be carrying is immediately dispersed into the train and however many hundreds of miles of tracks also connected to it.

Think of capacitance like a hose, one end is the anode and the other end is the cathode. The act of him getting electrocuted was like water running through the hose, the act of capacitance would be like curving the hose so it acts as a vessel for charge. The train/tracks are the force that are "sucking" the water through the hose, so any excess charge that he's carrying would be taken out of him.

I'm sure you've had some cute epiphanies and whatnot, but I thought you should know that even the most casual mathematicians and physicists have a more intimate relationship with the universe than you can imagine.

The notions of limit and scalability that you revel in are child's play. The only thing standing between you and full-blown geocentrism is a tiny glimpse of the past 500 years or so in physics discoveries. I'm not trying to be insulting, just pointing out that the beautiful universe we live in is in-fact modeled and understood with mathematical equations, not psychedelic daydreams.

The interviewer was asking some pretty loaded questions, as well. I don't know the circumstances of the interview, but I think he was as composed and articulate as a person could be while being asked questions like "don't you have anything better to do with your time?"

He's level 22, that's normal mode. As soon as you enter den of evil in hell you have to deal with swarms of crap that could kill you in two or three hits. At that point, save and exit is no longer an option.

You have no idea how hard d2hc can be, in hell the only time you have a chance to save and exit is when you see something unmanageable headed your way like unique black soul with conviction aura and a champion pack beside them. Unless you have enigma with your fcr close to max (because you are dodging lightning bolts) then you will die, game over.
