Nice job! Our goal was to use reality to pay homage to the nuances of the original art, not necessarily to "recreate" the exact poster. We simply wanted it to be a picture of him (as himself) next to the car, while happening to directly relate to as many visual elements from the painting as possible. Hence, it was also not necessary for him to shave his beard, or for me to add elements that weren't actually there!

And for the record, I really did want to include the fire, but he would not let me ;)

To answer a few more questions:

The photo was shot overlooking New York City from elevated ground in a parking lot in New Jersey. I found a clearing that faced east and shot during sunrise. There were three lights: one key light in the car, one fill/backlight to the right, and one fill to the left on the hood for the shirt and face. The coloring on the hood is actually part of the photo, and was not added in post, though some of the lighting was enhanced.

My friend periodically updates his Facebook profile picture as sort a joke for his friends. We are constantly trying to upstage ourselves, and come up with the best novelty photo. This one was posted in conjunction with his upgrade to the new Facebook "timeline" view.

My friend's dad has owned a DeLorean for about 10 years. We've always wanted to shoot a photo that made proper use of the car as a prop, and we finally did. :)

The key light in the car is a halogen worklight facing up. Then we had two fill lights. They were all hooked up to the car batteries for power.

I'm not implying there's some sort of conspiracy going on with Exxon and banking. This is just further evidence that there is no lack of available money in this economy; it's just being held by a small number of people.
