huh? yes they can, you really think the police will just give up because you used an internet cafe? they are not stupid!

they will just find which internet cafe you used, check the security cameras to identify you, internet logs, check your computer to see if it connected to the internet cafe and go from there.

and you would of had to pay for the PAYG internet, they will just follow the trail of money and it will link straight back to you, everything leaves a trail and they will again just confiscate your computer and it will have the login info and evidence!

well they would track your ip address and get in contact with your ISP to confirm it all. Also I am thinking they will take your laptop/computer/phone to see if it has any connection to the account.
