A ride is freedom when it comes to the first one. It's that way for everybody. The pink one is a pretty good deal IF the ad is true.

Dealers will let you test but they want and need to know you're coming back. Usually they want a drivers lic. and a major credit card that'll cover the cost if you do something stupid. But they can be flexible because they want that sale. Bring dad and it can be worked out. That is if you go to a dealer. Craigslist people you will need to bring a parent anyway as people are nuts.

My screen name says it all. I'm a dad first. The pink bike, You're a girl? Sorry that makes a difference in my eyes but I was always more protective of my daughter than the boys. Not that I restricted my daughter or let the boys ride and not her. That is not the case. It's just that I worried more about her more than the boys and that's just the way it works with dads. I made the boys do more work on their bikes too. But everybody looks the same in a full face helmet. My kids were started on dirt bikes around 9-10 years old. A car is generally considered safer but that's comparing apples and oranges. Both have their hazards. I've found in my riding experience that a bike is far better at avoiding accidents, when ridden properly.

A car is all around a more practical choice, when you consider the passenger compartment protecting you from the weather and other drivers. But they cost more to drive, maintain,register and insure. They also go a lot faster too and with a look at the highway statistics they're pretty dangerous for the young to drive. People die on both,there are more cars on the roads so more people die in them than on bikes. But that's just twisting the stats. Any motor vehicle is dangerous. It takes cautious drivers to be safe. If you're cautious you'll have a few accidents in your lifetime. All new riders have a tendency to drop their bikes weather you're going 5mph or 45mph when it happens is up to you.

Some parents have a no bikes rule some don't, I don't. I would recommend you go with a 49/50cc for starters. Most will go 45mph and the ones that don't are restricted or some thing's wrong with them. First bike means you don't know what you're doing and on a 50cc you can get into plenty of trouble. You don't need the power of that 125 and it'll be cheaper to register too I think. After you get good at riding and build confidence then you can sell it(some times for a profit) and buy bigger. Your parents might feel better about the smaller engine too. You'll have a better chance of picking up a 50cc bike when you do drop it too. A 125 is heavier.

California has a class c license for 50cc you'll need a motorcycle license for anything larger. That means you're going to have to learn to drive a car anyway and that's a good thing. But I recommend you sign up for the motorcycle safety course too the day you get your bike. A new or new to you bike deserves a new fullface helmet and real leather jacket too. These are safety items not fashion accessories and their purchase should not be neglected. Don't use an old helmet. IDK if I answered all your questions but if you have any more feel free to ask.
