I am, I needed this little boost though I was really starting to flag wondering if I could keep going.

Most bad eating and living habits are learned from parents and other adults we look up to. It's hard to break that cycle, but you don't have to re-live your mother's life of just expecting to die.

I don't know if that's your kid in those pictures or not, but you're setting a good example for her one way or another. At this rate, if you reach your total goal by the time she's 3 or so, she won't even ever remember an unhealthy you.

Yep that is my lil girl, I have a 3yo and 1yo and I do NOT want them to fall in to the same pattern. My sister and I are both obese, my other sister struggled with anorexia and watches what her kids eat like an absolute hawk to the point of neuroses.

My 3yo does exercises with me, or she says she is off to do her exercises, so damn cute!

I figured it was time add to the progress pic parade. And time to stop hating the camera ;)

Wow! Great work! My dad was diagnosed with diabetes about a year ago and, though it took a while to really sink in, it finally occurred to me that - I'm looking at my own future. It's so inspiring to see that children of, shall we say, people who may not have always made the healthiest choices, CAN AND DO change! Awesome and motivating!

While it sucks that it took such a thing to be my wake up call, the selfish part of me is glad it happened. Otherwise I'd be sitting here on the couch eating some chocolate instead of planning on going outside and enjoying some gardening. I seem to enjoy life so much more now, I'm not just wasting it passing time.

[–]jitterfish-110lbs *ONEderstar*[S] 0 points1 point ago

Thanks, I think! I wasn't sure if I should include the part about why I changed my life or just post pics, but I was thinking about it all day (I'm amazed I can even remember what chocolate I was eating, where I was sitting and what clothes I was wearing).

Props.

Way to go!!

I like your take on 'reduction' vs. 'loss', it makes a lot of sense to me. That said, you have accomplished something amazing. Congratulations!

Looking fabulous! Throw some make-up on, a bit of jewelry, a bit tighter form fitting clothes and you'll be pushing the dudes off, ;)

[–]jitterfish-110lbs *ONEderstar*[S] 0 points1 point ago

I don't think I'm quite at the tighter clothes yet, I did put on a top that was a little small for the pic so that my body shape showed. I considered underwear pics, but yeh.. I'm so not there!

how is your mum?

[–]jitterfish-110lbs *ONEderstar*[S] 0 points1 point ago

Alas she has made no life changes. She actually ended up in hospital just last week and they are talking about her having to have heart surgery (she got away with "only" having angioplasty last time). She is in denial to her diabetes, still eats crap and then wonders why her eye sight is getting worse or she is losing feeling in her feet :(

[–]hotleopardmama 0 points1 point ago

Sadness, I'm sorry you're having to watch your mom choose to decline. How terrible for both of you--even if she doesn't know it. It's hard to simply stand by idly... sigh. Kudos to you for doing your best to take control of your life and ensure your children don't have to endure the same sadness when you get older. Wishing you continued success!

a friends mother went through this. for years she was getting warnings from doctors. she died last year. ive always wondered if she really wanted to live. she had a full life and a loving family, but she had darkness inside her.

[–]jitterfish-110lbs *ONEderstar*[S] 0 points1 point ago

When my Mum was a teenager she saw a psychic that told her she would die when she was 62. When she had her heart attack and in the ambulance she said she knew she wasn't going to die because she wasn't 62 yet ಠ_ಠ . She truly believes that she is fine until then, and I'm pretty sure the power of belief is strong enough that if she does live until she is 62, she'll end up dying then due to her own self convincing.

[–]a1icey 0 points1 point ago

i hope it doesn't work out that way. good luck.
