Why is this water on my shower head turquoise? (self.answers)
submitted 3 months ago by Gigiya
See pic.
I took a shower a few hours ago, now a few droplets of water on the shower head are turquoise. I didn't use or have anything that color in the shower. I have city water if that's relevant.

It's probably a buildup of copper pipe corrosion in the shower head. Unscrew it and tap out the buildup. It will no longer be green.

I think it can be caused by poor electrical grounding.

I guessed copper. The out door sink at my last place ran water this colour when I ran it after at least 6 months without use.

Do you see the copper on your showerhead?

There's some really unhelpful answers here (and a few good ones). It looks like hard water residue. Soak your shower head overnight in CLR and it should come right off. I used to get that in the last city I lived in. Had to clean the shower head all the time because the drips started turning into turquoise and white stalactites. It's not poison. :)
