No that doesn't sound very healthy at all. Try a grilled chicken and spinach salad with eggs, cheese, broccoli and tomatoes with oil and vinegar dressing.

And then eat some more chicken, spinach and broccoli.

Don't eat that Activia bullshit - the nutrition facts are made to look healthy by putting the yogurt in extremely tiny portions. I swear to god, one Activia yogurt container is about two fucking bites. Also, objective fact: it's gross. If you like yogurt, eat Chobani. It's very high in protein, and delicious.

Anyway, that's a pretty unhealthy lunch. About the only thing good in there is the apples (by themselves).

I don't see how the salad without the ranch isn't good?

I would go with greek yogurt too, but i'd go with fage instead, IMO tastes much better.

About 2oz of Dole Butter Bliss salad

2 Tbls of Hidden Valley Ranch

Some vitamin K dipped in fat

A cup of sliced apples

1 Tbls of Sweet Lava Caramel (I had to have something sweet!)

Some sugar and fiber dipped in sugar and fat

1 4oz cup of Activia yogurt

Sugar with a little protein and calcium

Sprite Zero

Carbonation

Basically it's low nutrient, high sugar, mid to high fat and low protein. Most of the "healthy" stuff isn't that healthy and looks like an excuse to have something to put fat and sugar on. It's fine to eat like this as long as you realize what you're eating and make up for it with your other meals. I have no way of knowing if you're doing that. I'd definitely take a multi-vitamin. Eat some protein and less sugar with your other meals to compensate for what you're doing at lunch.

Get on myfitnesspal and track everything you eat. Adjust accordingly.

Yeah that's not a bad lunch if you're trying to lose weight.

Just a suggestion, but adding some grilled chicken over the salad would boost the protein content a bit and might make the meal more satisfying and keep you satiated longer after you're done eating it.

I'd also drop the caramel (not sure what Sweet Lava is). Might not be a lot of sugar once in a while, but every day it'll add up.

A big problem for me for a long time was falling into the "this meal is healthy, it's okay to eat something bad" trap either during the meal or sometime after. It's very difficult to break through.

Eat a bigger salad with protein in it and cut out the bad things. You can buy pre-cooked grilled chicken from a lot of the big chicken farming companies. Add in a hard boiled egg as well. Pick up a healthier dressing choice.

for the digestive part have u tried drinking the healthy bacteria In pill form? along with your medication? I think it would be more than what they put in the yogurt. http://www.losingmyhandles.com/

substitue ranch for balsamic vinegar or oil and vinegar. substitute your salad for spinach, shredded carrots, and tomatoes. maybe boil an egg or two if you can, otherwise get some turkey cold cuts and a slice of cheese and soem mustard and roll that shit together. chobani is good, dotn get the fruit ones b/c they have about 25 g of sugar in them, which is a lot!!! i would stick with vanilla, or plain and maybe chop up the apple and sprinkle some cinamon in there with it. diet sprite is okay, but some people think it messes up your kidneys, so its up to you. i would rather drink real soda less often than drink diet everyday.

Have you checked the freezer section for pre-cooked grilled chicken? That is where I get grilled chicken and I'll add a few slices to my lunch box in the morning and by lunch time it has defrosted.

As many others have pointed out, it's pretty unhealthy. Instead, pick and choose from the following to make meals:

  • starches: sweet potatoes, brown rice, quinoa

  • fibrous starches: pinto beans, black beans, other beans

  • veggies: broccoli, spinach, asparagus, anything else that's green

  • protein: chicken breasts, lean beef, lean turkey, lean pork

  • fats: avocados, olive oil, olive/canola oil blends

  • flavor enhancers: limes, lemons, garlic, sea salt

All healthy, and all can be made delicious.

Do not eat whole grains fool, the fiber derived from whole grains is filled with phytic acid. Straight, white rice is better.

[–]t333b 0 points1 point ago

On phytic acid: "In this regard, it is an antinutrient, despite its possible therapeutic effects (see below). For people with a particularly low intake of essential minerals, especially those in developing countries, this effect can be undesirable." - wikipedia

If your health isn't already compromised, and you're eating a healthy diet in general, it shouldn't be an issue.

I had to have something sweet!

You mean besides the apples, yogurt, and Sprite?

Ditch the Sprite for water. Add protein for satiation -- as is this lunch will just make you hungry again an hour or two later.

Notice how all the foods you listed have name brands? Don't eat food with name brands. Eat real food.
