Doing tons of sit-ups is very unlikely to help your situation - it can make your abs larger, but doesn't get rid of the fat in the area.

Yup - in general, working out one area of the body to get rid of fat in that area (also known as spot reduction) doesn't work. Your body has certain places it likes storing fat, and that's gonna be the last fat to go; for a lot of men, that spot is the belly, and you're just going to have to buckle down and combine diet/exercise until you get rid of it.

Calories out > Calories in. This is the simple weight loss equation. Diet to decrease calories in, exercise more to increase calories out, and give it some time, it's not going to happen overnight.

i have been cutting calories along with my tri-weekly 5 mile runs and frequent situps and whatnot. Thanks!

diet..cut down on carbs..make your carbs count..dont snack on carby snacks like chips, fries, bread..rather have protein like eggs..also drink a lot of water through out the day every day and cut down salt intake

Okay, since no on answered your question, here is a workout for that area. Lie on your back as you would a sit-up, feet a foot away from your body. Lift your head/torso as you would a sit-up, hold it and **then thrust your hips off of the ground **while your head/torso are still in the air. Hold for a second or two, drop your hips to the ground and then your head/torso after. Goodluck!
