Shooting nerf darts at her?

the result of nerf battle that will go down in history as the shortest.

"wait! don't shoot! the cat's being cute again!"

interesting fact, cats don't like their food to be kept near their water. my cats insisted on drinking water from cups around the house until i moved their water away from their food. now they drink almost exclusively from the water bowl.

true. Also- one reason many older cats die is because of dehydration due to the fact that they won't drink the water near their food.

Cats prefer water sources separate from their food source.

Move the water bowl to the other side of the room, away from her food... she'll drink out of it.

That water bowl is too good to ignore.

I had a friend tell me once that cats prefer running water (our cat loves drinking out of faucets). Something about oxygen something something something else...

This is true, they do prefer moving water. There's a company that makes fountains specifically for cats and dogs so they can have moving water to drink - called the DrinkWell Fountain. Our cats love it and also drink more as a result. Definitely worth the investment.

I have one of those as well. My cats love the thing, and it's amusing to watch them drink from the stream itself rather than the bowl. Especially when it's the one who is a little bit derp doing the drinking.

Not sure if it's connected, but running water is always safer than still water in the wild. Organisms and bacteria grow a lot better in still water. If you're ever stuck in the woods dying of thirst the running stream is safer than a lake or pond.

Maybe cats know that through instinct.

It probably tastes better.
