When i lost my cat i went door to door with fliers and a picture of here. I felt like a poon, but it worked and i got back my kitty! Good luck finding her.

[–]paintthisred 25 points26 points ago

upvote for finding your kitty, words of encouragement and use of the word "poon".

[–]tomstockmail 5 points6 points ago

This is a really good method. Who better to ask than the neighbors that may be feeding the animal while looking for the owner or called animal control?

[–]NoFillerXXX 0 points1 point ago

thought it was a misspell and you actually felt like a "coon" O.o is that racist of me?

[–]bricksauce 20 points21 points ago

I can't really help since I'm in Morgantown, but I messaged a few friends that live down around that area to keep an eye out for her.

[–]SummerSkinn 0 points1 point ago

Always glad to see more redditors in Morgantown! I'm too far as well, I hope she is alright! Are you bottle feeding the puppies for now?

[–]damnit_blondemoment 20 points21 points ago

Find Oliver Alert on Facebook. Post her information on there - picture, description, location. They will sort it and share it with that area. Also, post on Craigslist. Notify local animal control and animal shelters that you are looking for her. Is she microchipped, or do you know? It helps, especially if someone finds her and takes her to the vet. They scan every new animal on accounts to make sure there isn't a microchip containing information of the animal's original whereabouts. Good luck!

[–]GoodTouchOrBadTouch 32 points33 points ago

She couldn't handle the pressures of being a mother.

[–]KDRIUP[S] 28 points29 points ago

They ran across the road and started running in a field with some cattle, the farmer came out and shot his shotgun in the air to scare them and Sadie ran in the opposite direction and Indie (the dad) came back.

[–]L0v3isaverb 17 points18 points ago

Huskies run brother :/ they just run. Mine ran away twice, always came back though! Good luck and cheers!

[–]NeonCookies 0 points1 point ago

My husky ran all the time. Never came back. We had to catch her. She wouldn't even come back for food/treats. She was street smart, though. I saw her look both ways, wait for a car to pass, then dart across the street. It was crazy.

[–]hexguns 7 points8 points ago

Why would the farmer do that? Were they scaring the cows?

could you let the people who are trying to help look know where the farm is?

I can't help I live in Nebraska, but I would if I was closer.

[–]P10_WRC 27 points28 points ago

he is actually in IT, not farming, and that is how he handles all of his problems

[–]ComicOzzy 6 points7 points ago

[–]TheKrakenCometh 14 points15 points ago

Exploding hollow POINTERS!...

...programmer joke...

[–]Rasputin_PoleSmiter 1 point2 points ago

Totally got the reference. I know your pain.

[–]PracticalDuck 1 point2 points ago

the dog owner had to pay for each bullet he shot.

[–]bport 1 point2 points ago

Those things cost like a buck a piece.

[–]Gangreless -1 points0 points ago

Because he had dogs running around on his property and he didn't want said dogs on his property.

[–]Tawfiq7 0 points1 point ago

I'm in wheeling, WV. A bit too far, I'm afraid, but it's good to see other WV redditors!

[–]65C02 0 points1 point ago

Woah.. Hi fellow person in Wheeling.

[–]Tawfiq7 0 points1 point ago

Brother! Which high school did you go to? I was WPHS class of 2006. I'm not in wheeling right now, doing grad school in D.C. atm, but I'll be back to visit in a couple weeks.

[–]__rachelkitten 0 points1 point ago

I'm from Buckhannon, WV! Also too far away.
Good luck though, OP. Losing a pet is sad.

[–]KDRIUP[S] 8 points9 points ago

We found Sadie!!! We put an ad in the paper and someone found her 8 miles from where we were. She is now home safe and sound with the pups.

[–]dana1209 1 point2 points ago

How did Sadie react when she was reunited with her puppies?

[–]KDRIUP[S] 2 points3 points ago

didn't want to be bothered for a while. She was sooo tired.

[–]ConfusedAndHungry 0 points1 point ago

yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

[–]KDRIUP[S] 0 points1 point ago

Here is a pic of one of her pups now.

My mom lives in Berkley springs. I can't really do much but I do have experience with huskies and they almost always come back.

[–]marieangleika88 2 points3 points ago

i have found this true as well, they love to come home as much as they love running off. not so much the dog, but people you have to worry about though.

[–]kylebutts 2 points3 points ago

Yup, and cars and animals that are larger than them. Huskies are one of the most resilient breeds though in my experience.

[–]siegewolf 0 points1 point ago

If 8below proved something it was that.

[–]cirrhosis 11 points12 points ago

A friend of mine lives off of 9 past Riderville. I'll ask him if he's seen a lost Husky around.

[–]iseir 29 points30 points ago

If i see her, here in norway, I'll send you a message.

She went out to get a pack of cigarettes.

[–]old_righty 5 points6 points ago

That was 20 years ago this week...

[–]feelit27 6 points7 points ago

Daughter, lover, mother, and friend missing :(. Good luck in your search!

[–]littlemissdangerous 5 points6 points ago

She's gorgeous. Upvote for help. Hope she comes home!

[–]KDRIUP[S] 2 points3 points ago

one blue eye and one brown eye.

[–]littlemissdangerous 0 points1 point ago

Awwww! I hope she gets home safe & sound! Good luck!

[–]river-wind 2 points3 points ago

Is the dog chipped? If so, any rescue or shelter should be able to id the dog and contact the owners. If not, I recommend it if they find her.

In addition to calling shelters/SPCA and adding an entry for a lost dog on Petfinder.com, contact husky rescues - if someone fins Sadie, hopefully they will contact a local rescue to ask what they should do.

WV Mountain Husky Rescue is in WV, but 4 hours south. http://www.petfinder.com/shelters/WV154.html

I think the largest Husky rescue covering the area is going to be Tails of the Tundra. They cover a lot of territory: - MD, DE, WV, PA, NY... here is a link to their list of shelters in WV - there are three in the Berkley Springs area they are partnered with: http://www.siberescue.com/AShelter/WVshelterdogs.html

Delaware Valley Siberian Husky Rescue is a group group and does cover that area, though they're based in Philly and don't have as wide a coverage as Tails of the Tundra. It's worth calling.

There were a few other rescue groups in your area I have been in contact with before (friends of zoro and sibe rescue of western PA in particular), but they seem to have all closed up shop :(

Good luck! I'll cross my fingers for your friends!

[–]KDRIUP[S] 4 points5 points ago

Thanks everyone. We were staying in a cottage off of Allemong/Creek Road.

http://www.petfinder.com/awo/index.cgi?location=west+virginia&keyword=

Not familiar with the area but here is the list (many - 3 or 4 pages) rescues/pounds/shelters in WV on Petfinder - esp the animal wardens/pounds who pick up strays. Maybe you can e-mail the local ones with her picture to keep an eye out for her. If she is still nursing the pups - it will be easy to spot her and now you've got the "dog" folks keeping an eye open for her!

Best wishes to all of you. Please let us know what happens, OP. Fingers crossed for all of you!

[–]Eander 3 points4 points ago

I'm quite a bit south in Beckley, so I can't be of much help other than an upvote for good luck!

[–]Sweet_Tooth_VII 3 points4 points ago

I live in southern WV, about 4 hours from Berkeley Springs, and I don't really know anyone in the area. But good luck finding her, upvotes so more people can see.

[–]hoboking333 3 points4 points ago

Please update! Hopefully this story can have a happy ending :-(

[–][deleted] 7 points8 points ago

So I hate saying this but...She probably won't come back on her own. Huskies are known for running, and running so far that they don't know how to get home. This dog should never have been of a lead to start with no matter how "good" she always is when off a lead. I am so sorry that she is gone but seriously anyone who knows anything about owning a husky and being responsible would never have them off a lead or leash when outside, their prey drive and run instinct is too strong.

[–]Adakirol -1 points0 points ago

actually mine would usually run a "circuit"...an 8 mile circuit - come back muddy n full of burs n sticks with a s-eating grin on their face :P. BUT - that applies if there are no cars, and other dumb-ass humans to mess with them.

[–]drej311 2 points3 points ago

upvote for this, lets get it to the top and find this new mother

[–]Chefbexter 1 point2 points ago

Here's some information from Dogs Finding Dogs. They don't work in W.VA, but you might contact them and see if there is a similar organization in your area. There are a lot of links on their site as well. I recommend calling rescues and vets in the area, the ASPCA or Humane Society, (mention that she just had puppies!) and putting up fliers. Microchips are a good investment in the future if your dogs aren't already chipped. Hope this helps! And don't worry too much- Huskies do LOVE to run.

[–]Chefbexter 1 point2 points ago

Also, hit up your local facebook friends- I always cross-post those status updates for other people.

[–]Adakirol 3 points4 points ago

Feb 5th? ...sigh... contact every vet, animal shelter and rescue that you can find within a 15 mile radius. Every one of them needs a picture and contact information. Ask each and everyone you talk to about who else you should contact. As weird as it sounds, ask parents you see on the street with their kids if you can ask the kids. Kids see EVERYTHING. (Don't be a weird stalker dude and ask kids without parents permission.) Fliers and door to door, local papers and radio stations. I hope you find her :(

[–]SweetSea 1 point2 points ago

Years ago I found a female husky in my garage when I went to take out the trash. She was obviously well-groomed and fed, but had no tags on her collar and didn't belong to any of our neighbors. She slept in our garage and on our front stoop for several days and we started giving her food and water, but after about a week she disappeared again. We had planned to keep her if she stuck around, but I hope she found her way back home. I hope Sadie does too!

[–]snoobs89 1 point2 points ago

thats one skeptical looking dog

[–]Phailyor 1 point2 points ago

Fliers on telephone poles works! Got my cat back 2 days after putting up fliers. Didn't even have a picture, only a description.

[–]VDubDen 1 point2 points ago*

I have contacted Friends Fur Life Rescue out of Berkeley Springs, WV and sent them a link to this thread. I was assured that they will keep an eye out for Sadie and spread the word to anyone they can. Good Luck!

[–]Megustatits 1 point2 points ago

You get your ass out there and you find that fucking dog! Sorry I had to, but no really I hope you find your puppy!!! Good luck!

[–]DontTrustTheChef 1 point2 points ago

I live in martinsburg and ill keep an eye out!!! I have friends up there. I'll Facebook the photo dude.

[–]KDRIUP[S] 1 point2 points ago

Thanks

[–]Midsize_raccoon 1 point2 points ago

The pressures of being a parent were far too great for sadie. She wanted out!

[–]spaceisfor 1 point2 points ago

Keep us updated! :( I hope she comes home. What a beautiful girl.

[–]eyball000 1 point2 points ago

Shepherdstown, here. Will do a cruise from home to Berkeley Springs to see if I spot her.

Can't stand thinking about the poor pups without a mom!

[–]Tastefullytasteless 0 points1 point ago

Obviously this dog didn't love your family or its puppies and decided to pursue a better life for herself free of your collective burden.

[–]doowopderp 0 points1 point ago

WHY WOULD MOMMY LEAVE HER BABIES????????

[–]ExcelDominus 0 points1 point ago

As a former, 'Dub V' resident... Take the pups and run west.... Run as far as you can... If you don't find the momma you owe it to the pups for a better life

[–]kylebutts 0 points1 point ago

Any update?

[–]KDRIUP[S] 4 points5 points ago

She is home safe and sound. Tired though.

[–]AmbiguousStatement 0 points1 point ago

She's beautiful. I hope she comes home, safe and sound. :( Be sure to post posters in local pet stores, vets, and shelters. Craigslist and Petfinder wouldn't be bad stops either.

How are the puppies?

[–]Ambassador4Chan 0 points1 point ago

Yeah ran away...hehehhe that's cute. One of the White Knight heroes "rescued" her. U mad, bro?

[–]selburne 0 points1 point ago

that doesnt really seem like something a new mom would do.. i think someone probably stopped and picked her up because she is so very beautiful. its hateful, but probably the most likely issue..

[–]tclipse 0 points1 point ago

Not Berkeley Springs, but my folks are at their cabin between Romney and Capon Bridge every weekend... my advice would be to see if you can leave fliers in/near gas stations.

Not sure about Berkeley Springs, but Capon Bridge/Romney area only really has 1 gas station for each town.... probably the best way to increase exposure.

[–]Stevopotamus 0 points1 point ago

I live in Inwood, didn't even think other people reddit around this area. I'll spread the word fellow eastern panhandler.

[–]CountMalachi 0 points1 point ago

Went out for a pack of smokes and never came back...

[–]PacketScan 0 points1 point ago

Call every shelter.. spam every local news paper :d good luck

[–]cynoclast 0 points1 point ago

Oddly enough I have a friend in BS. I sent him this.

[–]invisiblerain 0 points1 point ago

Upvoted. Hope you find her!

[–]LadySkywalker 0 points1 point ago

I'm no where near you but when we first got one of my cats she was lost for over 2 weeks. We put up signs, called everyone we knew, walked around for hours just calling for her. Eventually she just turned up on her own. She was nearly starved and cold but as soon as we got her into the house and wrapped her up she was fine and never ever ran away again. I'm sure she'll come back. She knows she has puppies to take care of. Good luck!

[–]DRTYRYDR686 0 points1 point ago

Hope you find her

[–]DRTYRYDR686 0 points1 point ago

I hope you find her

[–]VenWolf 0 points1 point ago

Up vote to try n get this to front page. Hope you get her back!!! T.T

[–]toethumb 0 points1 point ago

My dad lives in Hedgesville. I'll tell him to keep a lookout.

[–]AKSasquatch 0 points1 point ago

my husk was young once, that are natural escape artists, even if it mean digging a hole under a fence.

[–]awkwardloveyous 0 points1 point ago

By my life, or death, if i can find you these puppies, i will. Unfortunately i live in Indiana so there's really not much hope that I will do anything.

[–]eifffrank 0 points1 point ago

Did you post on your local humane society website? I found a dog last summer, checked my local hs website and she was on there! She was home the next day.

Also, a few years ago my parents' dog went missing, we posted on craigslist and a vet assistant emailed saying a dog that fit the description had been turned into his vet, it was him!

[–]Bdzzldbnns 0 points1 point ago

My aunt and cousins live there. They used to raise huskys, I'll call her and see if she has seen anything!

[–]raresilk8 0 points1 point ago

I just came here because WV redditors - who knew? I'm in Charleston. Put my vote in for flyers. Got my cat back that way.

[–]foreskin_piss_bomb 1 point2 points ago

Charleston here, too.

If she makes it all the way here I'll drive her back myself.

[–]RedDragon212 0 points1 point ago

Why the fuck would anyone down vote something like this? Scumbag Redditors.

[–]weebeasties -1 points0 points ago

I pass thru Berkley Springs all the time on my way to visit my parents. I actually know a local business owner there too, though I haven't seen him in about 10 years.

[–]dankman38 -1 points0 points ago

Reason #1 why WV isn't a good place for dogs:

Hillbillies like to shoot wandering dogs

Sorry, but it's true.

[–]naginta_please -1 points0 points ago

Check your local shelter websites everyday. When my husky ran away i also posted signs. We ended up finding her at the shelter.

[–]LAboredom -1 points0 points ago

This is reddit through the 6th degree of separation ur dog will be found =D

[–]Jillian59 -2 points-1 points ago

probably did not runaway, someone took her. offer a reward..... Hope you find her.

[–]Chanstheman -3 points-2 points ago

Who let the dog out? Who? Who? Who who?

[–]dagoon79 -4 points-3 points ago

Sounds like a smart dog... why would it just run away?

[–]Adakirol -1 points0 points ago

huskies run - its what they do, its what they have been bred to do

[–]sahpee -1 points0 points ago

I have a male Siberian husky. They're notorious for running away, but a mommy with puppies is just sad!!! Anyway, my doggie ran away for about 4 days, and he finally found his way home. his dad ran away for 5 months. He came home on his own also( and he was red like Sadie!), but he died a few months later due to a kidney infection :((

Anyway, sorry, rambling. Moral of my story is: don't give up hope!!! Keep looking for her and if your friend gets lucky, she'll come back on her own.
