Sometimes we forget that some of our most precious friends walk this world not on two legs, never have much to say but bring us joy in indescribable ways. Thank you for the reminder.

Here's to you Vinny. My best friend (Coco) was older than I was when she passed and I was 18 in high school. LAB.

that do more for you than they'll ever realize.

True story.

Read this fabulous article from this past weekend's NYTimes Magazine. I've never read a better article about the love shared between men and dogs. http://www.nytimes.com/2012/02/05/magazine/wonder-dog.html?pagewanted=all

Now I'm tearing up at my desk...thanks a lot! :) No, really, that was a wonderful article and it only serves to further my conviction that there is no truer friend in the world than a dog.

Damn man, I feel for you. Your situation sounds just like mine. I lost my father and grandfather early on and my dog was my absolute best friend during high school and middle school. She lived to be 14 (black lab) and I had to put her down because she was in alot of pain. After losing her I realized how much I took pets for granted. I miss her.

We are lucky to have such awesome dogs.

My cat Benji helped me through a lot of hard times, he always seemed to know when I needed a cat cuddles. It's sad that they'll never understand how much they actually do for you

Dogs are special. Just because they can't speak doesn't mean they're dumb - far from it.

My cat helped me with depression in elementary and middle school. She would never come up to strangers, but it was funny that if someone was crying she would comfort them no matter who.

I'm sorry you lost your father at such a young age, but I'm glad you had such a faithful companion through it all!

Same situation here. It's incredible how an animal can support you through everything. Props to Vinny.

Is your dog Vincent from LOST?

[–]crampfever 1 point2 points ago

I want to upvote this so much more. I have a 10yo black lab named Jett.

Raising a glass to Vinny, tonight, and to you. He loves you, too, massey.

My toy poodle Jack.

I've had him for about 5 years now and he was at my mom's side in her final afternoon the day before she lost a bitter fight with ovarian cancer. Even when she was more or less completely incapable of speaking, she still somehow managed to say his name and smile when he laid down by her.

she hardly had the strength to hold her eyes open but yet somehow could rub his little afro.

He's such and awesome little dude. I never quite fully understood the purpose or idea behind therapeutic animals until then... despite the fact that he puts a smile on my face every day when I come home from work.

Edit: thought I'd toss this quote in here. I love it.

"You never think you're going to miss animals as much as you do. It was just nice having some creature in my life who never disappointed me. Never judged me...Man's best friend, huh? They got that one right." -Dr. Kelso from Scrubs.

To Vinny and yes, all our loved animals that give us so much and ask for so little in return. Cheers for our pets!

Sorry for the confusion... He's still alive! But I haven't seen him in awhile because I'm at college now.

iPod touch?

[–]massey42[S] 1 point2 points ago

Haha yeah sorry the quality isn't spectacular.

I knew it! The camera is actually pretty good if you have plenty of lighting, but with the mood lighting you appear to have, there's lots of noise.
