He's Maine Coon mix and six years old. I have to brush and trim tangles out of his fur constantly. Good luck!

My kitty is a ragdoll mix with long, fluffy fur. She is 3 years old and still never had a mat in her fur.

I had a cat like this a while back. Miss him dearly. At any rate, we had to shave him every May, otherwise he would shed like mad all throughout the summer. Depending on the temperature during May, he either hated it, or loved it. Clippers + #2 plastic attachment I believe worked fine, never down to the skin.
