Aw. That kinda reminds me of my dog Daisy a while before she died. She wasn't paralyzed, but being an 18 year old beagle, she got tired real quick. When we'd go to take our other two dogs on walks, she'd always want to come along, and like hell we'd leave her behind. Problem was that our other two dogs were considerably younger than she was, and being labs, had a LOT more energy than she did. Poor Daisy would run out of steam less than halfway through our walks, so some days, one of us would have to carry her home.

Then one day, my dad comes home with a little red wagon. My mom and I look at him as if he's finally gone off his rocker, but he insists that we try it out as Daisy's chariot. So the three of us would walk with the three dogs for a while, rolling the wagon behind us. When Daisy would run out of steam, we'd plop her in the wagon and she'd ride along for the rest of the trip.

The first few times we tried this, she kept climbing out while giving us a big "wtf?!" look. But after about a week of trying this, she seemed to realize what we were trying to do for her. And then, she loved it. Our neighbours would give us THE weirdest looks when we'd go walking down the street with three dogs and a wagon in tow. But then they'd see us rounding back with Daisy riding along, happy as a clam, and they got it just like she did.

Best part was when we'd have a little parade of sorts near the end of our walks. One neighbour watched for us to come back every time, and would wait with treats for all the girls. <3

I'm not sure if I have any pictures of Daisy in her wagon, but man. The things people will do for their dogs. I love it.

My dog likes riding on the upseat of the snowmobile or quad. He just sits up there so contented while he gets his ride. Whenever I stop at a gas station to fill up, he'll stay sitting on the machine even while I go inside to pay with absolutely no worries of him ever getting down. I often get asked if I have to tie him on to keep him there like that, but no, he knows if he gets off he risks losing his seat.

Trying to keep someone we love happy and comfortable against so many odds is surely a sign of a lovely and kindly soul.

Oh this broke my heart!

He's still insanely happy. The paralysis has gotten worse. As you can see half of his face is kinda derp. But he still goes to work with his daddy every day. Right now he's on vacation for some R&R in Florida for a month or two.

I am just hoping he'll be around when I get back to the States in October. I love that old sucker. He's the only dog to acknowledge me on Skype and he's almost entirely deaf.

So you Skype with your neighbor? I don't understand...

[–]Anesthesiakk[S] 8 points9 points ago

My parents were babysitting him and his little brother for a week. When I was skyping with them my dog ignored me, as usual, Buster (pictured above) freaked out and actually stood up and was whimpering at the computer, and then Ace (the demon black lab puppy) ran whenever I spoke because he doesn't understand the black magic of computers.

I do actually Skype with my neighbors though. We've spent all the holidays with them for as long as I can remember and whatnot. They're best friends with my parents, my brother and I call them aunt and uncle, etc.

That is one hell of a dog then!

My boyfriend and I have 4 rats, one of whom is suffering from hind-leg degeneration. In short, the nerves in his back end aren't working so great anymore so he drags his hinder around. Poor thing. We love him and help him when we can, but being a degenerative thing, this is just how it is until he passes away. He still tries to get around a lot though, so he's a good boy.

TL;DR: Having a pet with mobility problems is super depressing, but you love them just the same.

Poor guy, he still looks happy though.

Your neighbor acts in a manner that we should all strive to.

I saw a dog on tv that had one of these chairs. He got himself into it and even flipped the tray part down. haha Was really cute.

He's so happy :')

I've never heard of a dog having to sit up to eat because of paralysis (or a dog not being put down when they are paralysed....) I have however heard of a dog needing to sit upright to eat like this because they have an enlarged esophagus which doesn't allow them to swallow and push food down their throats. here's the website

[–]latecraigy 2 points3 points ago

Why would you put the dog down because it's paralyzed? If we don't kill people when they are paralyzed I don't see a difference.

[–]terari 2 points3 points ago

your neighbor is an angel

This makes me tear up, my freshmen year in college my dog got paralyzed somehow found him in my backyard not moving, but i took care of him for weeks not going to class using a towel to hold him up for poops. He is fine now wierd ass random paralyzation, but i love the shit out of my lil brodog!

Something that's close enough, it's a dog with a condition called megaesophagus. They have to sit that way so they can actually swallow their food.

[–]AdrianStaggleboofen 1 point2 points ago

Thats a bailey chair

[–]MrMattShirley 0 points1 point ago

paralysis moving through his body

Must be a better way of wording that...

[–]hereweareonceagain 1 point2 points ago

[–]drwconnor 0 points1 point ago

my heart just cried

[–]Zombette 1 point2 points ago

Aww. He looks so happy.

[–]JMCSD 0 points1 point ago

As others have pointed out, I think it looks more like a dog with Canine Megaesophagus

[–]liketheghost -3 points-2 points ago

put it down. put it out of its misery. dogs are not meant to be strapped into chairs

[–]latecraigy 1 point2 points ago

Neither are people, but we don't put them down.

[–]liketheghost -1 points0 points ago

you cannot be comparing humans to animals. thats ridiculous. quite possibly the stupidest arguement i have ever heard.

[–]latecraigy 1 point2 points ago

I'm sure there are some people who agree with me. Mainly pet owners.

[–]liketheghost 0 points1 point ago

Im a pet owner and i would put my dog down if it was paralysed, got cancer or needed any major surgery. Unlike humans, dogs dont understand why theyre suffering. If theyre in pain and confused they should be put down. Its kinder
