The parakeet obviously killed the kitten!

No, death was too good for that kitten. The parakeet conquered the kitten.

At my place we have two birds and three grown cats. Despite the common belief that they would be natural enemies, the cat's interest in them ranges from utter indifference to outright fear. The cats like to act all badass by chattering at the birds in in feeder outside--but when faced with an actual bird that shares their living space, they want nothing to do with it other than a curious sniff.

We used to have 2 rats along with our 5 cats. We could let the rats out to play unsupervised, as the cats were scared to death of them.

My cat killed my mom's parakeet. I didn't believe it but when I picked up my cat, he had a yellow feather sticking out of his mouth. Guilty!

In high school my family kept three ferrets and a parrot. Normally. we would let the ferrets run around the house while we cleaned the cage out back. One cleaning day we forgot that the bird was still out of his own cage, on a perch. Should have been fine, but somehow he got spooked and decided to fly down.

Needless to say, it didn't end so adorably.

These photos could have had a catastrophic ending, but instead turned out really cute.

When I was little, my family had 2 budgie parakeets. We'd let them out of their cage occasionally and our kitten would chase them around while they flew around. One day, our green bird flew really close to the ground and the cat got his hind feathers. It was hilarious. They didn't grow in for like a month.

Former budgie breeder here.... its not hilarious, its fucking cruel. Birds are actually quite delicate, and sustained stress like a natural predator chasing them around and pinning them down can and will kill your pets. Losing feathers isn't completely painless if the feathers aren't close to moulting, its like pulling out chunks of your hair. In the budgie's case, it also means being unable to fly properly.

The bird was flying around and the cat jumped up and got the feathers. No pinning anywhere.

While the cat must have had some fun, I'm sure the parakeet was terrified to death.

Did someone kill and skin a muppet to make that ugly ass bed spread? Shag carpet is bad enough, but a shag bed spread is the ugliest thing I have seen.

Exact same thing when I brought a kitten to my adult siberian husky. He just wanted to play and "poke" the smaller critter with his paws, which still could be dangerous considering both animals' size.

They're buddies now.

Um...is that a parakeet? We call those budgies in the UK. Parakeets are about twice the size. Is that a US/UK thing?

And....awwwwww!

Something tells me this started out as "HOLY SHIT THE KITTY'S GOING TO EAT THE PARAKEET? I'VE GOT TO GET A PICTURE!!!!"

This won't end well. We're looking at a Grizzly Man situation in the near future.
