I love my hedgehogs, but they're not for everyone, and I have to admit they're a bit of a fad pet nowadays. They're not going to be incredibly social like a dog or a cat. They don't really seek out human interaction (unless it involves food) or affection. Mine are pretty well socialized so they aren't afraid of people, they just prefer to do their own thing (primarily eating, running around, and sleeping). That being said, I really like them because they're adorable, and fairly low maintenance. During the day they're sleeping and happy to cuddle with me under a blanket, and at night they entertain me by running around and doing ridiculous things.
